- This study investigates and evaluates the three-dimensional impact of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the development of the city of Doha and its infrastructure. Before it enjoyed its current global impact, sports served simply as a recreational activity that most people not either participated in, or simply watched. Today, sports – especially large-scale global events like the Fédération International de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup football tournament – enhance interaction among various nations and people. Mega Sport Events (MSEs) like these attract media and fans from different nations and ethnicities, boosting business sectors and concentrating wealth and prestige to the host nation. Initially, the theoretical background and contextual scope of the study are mentioned, indicating the challenges and impact of MSEs, as identified through various dimensions, such as socio-cultural, economic and environmental. International case studies are selected, including the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The study charts the chronological urban evolution and analysis of Doha and Qatar, examining its status and the expected impact on its urban development and legacy. A combined research method, including qualitative and quantitative research tools, is used in this study. Information has been collected from primary and secondary sources, with interviews and surveys conducted to collect data from respondents. The Three-Dimensional Impact Assessment Model (3D-IAM) is developed, analyzed and assessed. Findings are stated based on the data collection, analyzation, synthetization and interpretation. A prediction of the impact is explored by developing an adapted assessment model, comparing selected adequate indicators to the 2022 FIFA World Cup 2022 event in the State of Qatar. This is achieved in order to assess the impact on the State's development, with results pointing to the positive development of the nation. According to the predicted interpretation, while there might be some negative impact, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will have a beneficial impact on the city of Doha and the State of Qatar.
